"A comfortable gathering place on The Mountain showcasing NW authors and artists"
Start: 7:30 pm
Alison creates amazing art using charcoal as her medium. She will answer questions about her work with those in attendance. Composed of charcoal on paper, the medium is one with an ancient and distinguished legacy. Used in preparatory work for oil paintings, alone these drawings most often convey the truest emotion. Unlike a pencil or graphite 'sketch', as a stick of charcoal is drawn across paper it leaves behind particles with a rough irregular shape. The resulting image is one with dramatic depths of black and a matte and velvety surface. Lines and forms are rendered with robust and painterly effect as well as with meticulous sensitivity of detail. The simplicity and power of charcoal drawing remain unsurpassed. Wine, sparkling water and appetizers will be served after Alison’s presentation. All are welcome!
